At Home in Playa del Carmen got its start thanks to our home rental business in Cozumel You see, Cozumel is where we began and where we manage homes. Back then, Cancun was still mostly a sandbar, Playa del Carmen was just a sleepy little fishing village, and Cozumel was the big city. Of course, now, relatively speaking, the situation is reversed. Cozumel is the smallest, Cancun the largest, and Playa del Carmen is the fastest growing. Anyway, as time went by, and these trends accelerated, we began to get more and more calls from people looking for a vacation rental home on the mainland So we decided to take the ferry over to Playa del Carmen and see what there was on offer.

We were surprised and delighted to see that despite Playa's growth, Playacar 1, the area where the homes are located was a tranquil and lovely haven bordering on beautiful white sandy beaches. Unlike modern developments nowadays, Playacar 1 consists of individually built and designed homes. So there is no feel of a planned community. There is only one way in and out and that was protected by a security gate so only cars for residents and authorized workers are allowed entry. The roads were designed to be twisty and laced with speed bumps so what little traffic there is has to go slowly. Lots of trees and vegetation were left in place and, of course, there are numerous ancient Mayan temples dotting the site. It is really a remarkable place especially considering how developed the rest of Playa del Carmen has become.

We are also currently offering a few select homes in Playacar 2. While Playacar 2 is not a beachfront community (Playacar 1 stands between it and the beach) it does offer such amenities as community swimming pools and tennis courts. And they still are just a short stroll from the beach.

All the homes we represent in Playa del Carmen we have inspected with a critical and knowledgeable eye since we are in the same business on Cozumel. So we know what it takes to properly maintain a vacation rental villa. After lots of inspections we have selected those homes and only those homes that meet our standards.
